Hong Kong broadcaster Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) has tapped Elemental Technologies to process and manage live linear broadcast channels in real time for its over-the-top (OTT) content delivery service.
TVB is employing the workflow primarily for overseas distribution.
“Elemental has provided us with a cost-effective and versatile video processing solution that easily integrates with our existing workflow,” said Garry Kum, Senior Manager (Technical Services), Engineering Division of TVB. “High-efficiency video coding can be enabled solely through software, which provides flexibility in function.”
TVB provides Chinese entertainment and news service to more than seven million Hong Kong viewers and operates an international licensing and distribution business accessible to more than 300 million households.
Its subscription service overseas provides a diverse selection of programming along with associated OTT content. The OTT VOD service allows subscribers to access a huge library of dramas TVB has produced since it was founded in 1967, and to view content on smart phones, tablets and TV sets.
